“It really doesn’t matter because when we leave in ten or fifteen years, we won’t remember our career for the runs we scored, the wickets we took, or the other bilateral series we won. The only thing we will recall are World Cups. Thus, yes, we have that added motivation to take things a step further the following time, KL Rahul remarked.
Yes, but even though I was aware that there was pressure to return and all of that during this period, I had experienced such a traumatic tragedy in my life that everything else felt insignificant. When you had to have surgery to rip your quadriceps, everything else looked insignificant. For the first three or four weeks, I was unable to walk. I was using the walker when I gradually began to strengthen myself throughout that period,” he continued.

The captain of the Lucknow Super Giants, KL Rahul, suffered a right thigh injury during an IPL 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. After surgery, he shared pictures of himself on crutches. He decided to get surgery right away after suffering the injury while fielding, which will keep him out of action for the remainder of the Indian Premier League and the ICC World Test Championship final against Australia on June 7 at the Oval in London.

“It’s not possible to return to the World Cup immediately. Before then, the squad wants you to play a few more games so that you may gain confidence from them. I decided to just take things one day at a time for that entire period. I’m not able to feel anxious,” he said.
