Players must be given many of opportunities because one test is never a fair appraisal. Shan Masood

Players must be given many of opportunities because one test is never a fair appraisal. Shan Masood

Pakistan captain Shan Masood asked for patience and asked the supporters to have faith in the team’s procedures ahead of the Boxing Day Test match against Australia in Melbourne. Despite the 360-run defeat in the opening Test match in Perth, the 34-year-old stated that Pakistan intends to carry on playing an attacking style of cricket because they have had success with it in Sri Lanka.

He clarified that while expanding the red-ball framework and adding more players, the objective is to provide the present group of players with enough chances to secure their spots. Masood is optimistic about a strong return despite a disappointing defeat in Perth, saying that one Test match is seldom a true gauge of the talent in his team.

“A single test is never a reliable gauge. Time is what you need. You require a little more time. Already, you have a team that has experience playing Test cricket. You must consider the domestic league system as well as the players who are available for red-ball cricket. Many things are necessary before you can attempt to push that style of play,” Shan Masood was cited by Cricbuzz.

“Players must commit to the game. We wish to provide players with plenty of opportunities to adopt our preferred style of play. We’ve made it clear from the outside that we want to play a more visually appealing style of Test cricket. We carried that out in Sri Lanka. We also received some results. Now, the task is to accomplish it against the top cricket teams in the world,” he continued.

We may give Sarfaraz a brief respite now that Muhammad Rizwan is ready. Shan Masood

Pakistan is going to reintroduce Mohammad Rizwan into the lineup after Sarfaraz Ahmed did not perform well in the first test. The latter had recently played a lot of white-ball cricket and was given time to get used to red-ball cricket, according to skipper Masood, who verified the situation.

“Rizwan recently returned from the World Cup.” Additionally, since Sarfaraz replaced him for the New Zealand series, he had a void in his red-ball cricket career. There, Sarfaraz gave an amazing performance, and Rizwan wasn’t a big red-ball player. Hence, there was a process to it. He said, “He’s been there; he played red-ball cricket.”

“We were able to build up a guy like Rizwan because Karachi had a fantastic season and won the MVP award for the competition. Ideally, I would like for both to play, but it isn’t feasible. We can now give Saifi the brief respite he needs to heal and return since we believe Rizwan is ready, Shan Masood continued.
