RCB director Mo Bobat expressed his delight at hiring Alzarri Joseph.

Director of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Mo Bobat, expressed his happiness when the team signed Alzarri Joseph on December 19 at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction in Dubai. The three-time IPL finalists paid a hefty INR 11.50 crore to win the West Indies speedster in the auction.

Mo Bobat stated that he thought it was a good decision to bring the 27-year-old on board, as he was one of the team’s top three objectives in the current auction. He also emphasized Joseph’s quick release point and strong bowling pace, which produce valuable bounce, particularly at the RCB’s Bengaluru home venue.

“Having Alzarri [Joseph] is a great pleasure. He was one of our top three objectives, in our opinion. Things get a little tough when you’re playing foreign tempo bowling since you’re constantly trying to figure out the auction sequence. We think we made the right decision to express our interest in Alzarri Joseph and give him a fair go since, as a player, we really like him right now. Alzarri Joseph bowls quickly and has a high release point, which gives him bounce. At the Chinnaswamy (Stadium), bounce is crucial, as we all know. Mo Bobat stated on Star Sports, “He’s also got amazing death skills.

Mo Bobat also talked about Alzarri Joseph’s potential to be a threat in the last outs for opposing batters. He went on to explain why he had signed Yash Dayal. INR 5 crore was used to acquire the left-arm fast-medium bowler.

“If you look at his record, he stands up to everyone in the end. He is also a regular player for both franchises and international cricket teams all over the world. He is therefore a surface- and condition-adapter. Additionally, the captain is quite familiar with him. Thus, there is a genuine trusting dynamic and a strong bond between him and Faf [du Plessis].

Yash Dayal is undoubtedly a significantly different choice in that regard, but it still checks a lot of boxes for us. We appreciate that he moves the ball up front and that he has a left arm angle. We want to make sure we have enough domestic bowlers to support players like Alzarri,” Bobat continued.

We believe we have a fairly well-rounded, varied attack. Mo Bobat

Noting the addition of Cameron Green, Mo Bobat emphasized once more that RCB feels they have assembled a well-balanced attack for the forthcoming IPL season. To strengthen their middle order, the Mumbai Indians traded their star Australian all-rounder to the Bombay Cricket Board (RCB) for INR 17.5 crore.

“Of course, Cameron Green is also here. It appears that we have a well-rounded and diverse attack. And from the standpoint of pace bowling, we want to make sure that we have variety each time we go the field. We therefore have enough bounce, enough pace, a left arm angle, and [Mohammed] Siraj, a champion swing bowler, up front. Thus, we’re gathering our weapons to confront the resistance,” Bobat said.
