IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians refute trade rumors involving Rohit Sharma, among other things

There have been numerous deals and high-profile players joining various teams in advance of the upcoming 17th Indian Premier League (IPL), which is a highly anticipated event. Many clubs were rumored to be approaching the five-time champion Mumbai Indians for the trade of their former captain Rohit Sharma prior to the tournament’s auction. The Mumbai Indians have named great all-arounder Hardik Pandya as their new captain, succeeding Rohit. But one of the five-time champs’ top officials stood up to say the seasoned opener was not going anywhere. They stated that there is no truth to the reports and rumors about a potential transaction involving Rohit.

“The news reports are completely fabricated and untrue. Before making the decision, we had each player’s confidence; as a result, we won’t be trading or releasing any MI players. The MI insider told Cricbuzz that Rohit was also informed and actively involved in the decision-making process.

Franchises that expressed interest in working with Rohit Sharma have withdrawn from negotiations.

There had been rumors that a few MI players wanted to be traded away because they were upset that Rohit Sharma had lost his captaincy. The trading window will open on Wednesday, December 20, and remain open for 30 days prior to the start of the league. It was rumored that the teams interested in signing Rohit were the Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings.

Nevertheless, Mumbai Indians was contacted by one of the aforementioned teams regarding a trade, including Rohit Sharma.

The five-time winners, though, turned down every proposal that was made. The franchise in question verified this as well, but they did not rule out the possibility that they are no longer interested in moving forward.

Cricbuzz cited the franchise official as saying, “We are no longer in the race, but we would have given anything for Rohit.”

Rohit Sharma has made a lasting legacy as the team’s captain, having guided them to five IPL championships since assuming the role in 2013. Hardik Pandya will eventually succeed the iconic captain as Mumbai’s captain in 2024.
