In a historic victory, the Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 195 runs in the final played on Sunday, December 17 at the Dubai International Stadium, to win their first-ever ACC Under-19 Asia Cup.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh’s opener, Ashiqur Rahman Shibli, put on an outstanding display and scored an incredible century, posing a serious threat to the UAE’s decision to field first. Bangladesh amassed a dominant total of 282-8 in their allocated 50 overs thanks to Shibli’s outstanding performance of 129 runs off 149 deliveries, which included 12 boundaries and a maximum. With an impressive 278 runs in five innings, he finished as the tournament’s best run scorer. This was his second century in the competition.

With 60 and 50 runs scored, respectively, batters Rizwan Chowdhary and Ariful Islam made substantial contributions. The UAE’s best bowler was Ayman Ahamed, who achieved 4/52 in his whole quota, which was great. Omid Rehman took two wickets in the meantime, benefiting the team.

Bangladesh wins the final with a lopsided, overwhelming victory after crushing the UAE batting.

Bangladesh bowled brilliantly in the second innings, limiting the hosts to only 87 runs in 24.5 overs to claim victory and become the new champions. Both Md. Rohanat Doullah Borson and Maruf Mridha, who each took three wickets, were crucial players for the young tigers. Bangladesh won handily because to the bowling prowess of Md. Iqbal Hasan Emon and Parvez Rahman Jibon, who both took two wickets.

For those who do not know, Bangladesh was already declared victors in the 2020 ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa. This triumph adds another magnificent chapter to their history in age-level cricket. As the junior Bangladesh squad continues to make waves on the world scene, this historic event highlights even more of their ability to develop and showcase young cricketing potential.

Short scores:

In 50 overs, Bangladesh scored 282/8 (Ashiqur Rahman Shibli with 129, Chowdhury Md Rizwan with 60, Ariful Islam with 50; Ayman Ahamed with 4/52, Omid Rehman with 2-31)

UAE: 25-run lead in 24.5 overs (Dhruv Parashar, 3/29, Rohanat Doullah Borson, 3/26, Sheikh Paevez Jibon, 2/7) defeats the opposition by 195 runs.
