"Rohit and Virat have a great deal of mettle." Senior India players are supported by Harbhajan Singh to participate in the 2024 T20 World Cup

The Twenty20 World Cup 2024 is rapidly approaching. With the USA and the West Indies slated to co-host the main event, numerous teams have a chance to win and emerge as global champions. Team India would have been among the heavy favorites going into the match. Pat Cummins’ team, Team India, lost to Australia in the championship game, narrowly missing out on a spot in the 2023 ODI World Cup summit game.

But many have been talking about the team India could produce for the T20 World Cup as it draws near. Veteran batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were the subject of many criticisms, but in spite of the ongoing debates, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh spoke up in favor of both batters and gave them permission to play in the competition.

“In my opinion, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma ought to be competing in the World Cup…I believe that only when you have talented senior players alongside the younger ones can you have a successful combination. Both Virat and Rohit possess a great deal of mettle. HT cited Harbhajan Singh as saying, “I think they should play.”

India performed poorly in the World Cup final, which is why they lost. Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh also discussed the ODI World Cup 2023 summit match, which India lost to Australia. The former spinner said that India’s poor performance in the final and the side’s collapse after losing the third wicket were the reasons for their defeat.

“India did not play well, which is why they lost the World Cup final. Australia had more bravery and superior play. After we lost the third wicket, we gave in to the strain. With 280–290 runs, we could have won. Although the pitch, dew, and circumstances are receiving a lot of the blame, we have to acknowledge that we performed poorly when under duress, “added the speaker.
