The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) organizes the Vijay Hazare Trophy, formerly known as the Ranji One-Day Trophy, as an annual domestic limited-overs cricket competition. Teams from union territories and states that compete in the Ranji Trophy make up the event.
Before being enlarged to the national level in 2002–03, the competition was first launched in 1993–94 and was played at the zonal level. The competition was renamed in 2007 in memory of Vijay Hazare, who passed away in December 2004. Tamil Nadu has won the trophy five times, making them the most successful team since the expansion.
