Shakib Al Hasan

Shakib Al Hasan, the great all-rounder for Bangladesh, has made the decision to put his country’s needs ahead of his T20 cricket franchise. Despite being a platinum category player, he recently chose not to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction and asked for his name to be removed from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) players’ draft. Shakib Al Hasan plans to commit more time to serving as his nation’s representative.

However, the course of events leading up to this choice has already occurred. Even though Shakib Al Hasan was at the peak of his fitness and the world’s number one all-rounder in 2017, he had chosen to miss a pivotal series against South Africa and had asked for a six-month vacation from Test cricket. Considering the importance of the series to Bangladeshi cricket, this move has generated discussion.

“I ordered my management to withdraw my name from the PSL after he gave it in the IPL, hoping that a window might open. “I will be giving up my franchise tournaments to dedicate all of this time to the national team,” Shakib Al Hasan told American media.

While I aspire to keep playing in three different forms, nobody can predict what the future holds. However, I still want to play cricket for a very long time,” he continued.

Shakib Al Hasan will return through the BPL

Due to a finger injury, the 36-year-old is now out of commission and will miss the Test series as well as the white-ball trip against New Zealand. But he intends to make a return by playing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), which kicks off on January 19. In the next BPL season, the southpaw will play for the Rangpur Riders.

“It’s taking longer than anticipated—six weeks will be needed—and my only other choice is to get well and rehab before the BPL, which will keep me occupied. After that, I don’t see any other options. Thus, I’ll participate in the BPL when I’m fully healthy and make a comeback to competitive cricket,” he declared.
