An important event for the Pakistan women is that Diana Baig and captain Nida Dar have both suffered injuries. The team is now playing New Zealand in an ODI series.

In the opening one-day international (ODI) of the current series against the White Ferns, Dar was struck in the face by Sophie Devine during the 44th over of the opening inning. She was taken off after receiving emergency medical assistance.

Her ability to play in the second and third ODIs is doubtful due to her ailment. In Dar’s absence, Omaima Sohail finished the over. Sadaf Shamas replaced Omaima Sohail in the second inning, although she didn’t have much of an influence as she was out for just 10 runs in the run chase.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board released a statement saying that Nida will not be participating in today’s ODI after the team physio assessed his condition. The decision about Nida’s participation in the remaining matches of the series will be made in due course.”

Baig’s right index finger fractures.

Diana Baig, 28, further aggravated the matter when she was hurt while fielding during a practice session. Soon after, she was brought to the hospital, where scans showed that she suffered a fracture.

“Baig injured her bowling arm’s index finger during a practice session while fielding. She was brought to a nearby hospital right away for a comprehensive evaluation, which included an X-ray, the statement said.

“Diana Baig’s index finger has been proven to have a horizontal fracture, as per the medical findings. Consequently, she will be absent from the ODI series against the White Ferns. Her status is being continuously monitored by the PCB medical team, and more evaluations will be conducted to ascertain the full degree of her damage and the best course of action for her recuperation.”
