Mohammed Shami returned to the ODI World Cup 2023 in the match against New Zealand, after missing the first part of the competition. He went on to dominate it. He became India’s all-time leading wicket-taker in the tournament’s history after taking 24 wickets in just seven games. Since hundreds of people flocked to his farmhouse on Sunday, December 10, to meet the cricket player, the 33-year-old has become a national star.
Mohammed Shami posted a sneak peek of the same thing on Instagram, and it went viral right after.
Interestingly, Bengal’s star bowler was born in Uttar Pradesh and plays domestic cricket. The cricket player from Amroha recently disclosed that he felt he was not given enough opportunity by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) and was taken aback by the officials’ response when he enquired about it.

“Agar meri kursi hila sakte ho to ladka select ho jayega, bohot acha hai, warna sorry,” was the message given to my brother (If you can move my chair, the boy would be selected). My brother responded, “Forget moving the chair; I have that much power to turn it upside down.” However, if I am capable of choosing, I would rather not have it. He was informed that those with ability are not needed here. My brother tore up the form and declared that we will not be participating in UP cricket after today. In an interview with Puma, Mohammed Shami stated, “That was my last day in UP cricket.”
Shami became a Bengali and trained with Waqar Younis when the latter was named a coach. While playing in the IPL with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), he also received training from Wasim Akram. At the beginning of his career, Mohammed Shami was a student at the Arun Lal Academy as well.
Subsequently, when I was between 14 and 15 years old, I relocated to Kolkata. I had a conversation with my coach. I firmly believed that I had to play. I was gaining extensive experience. I attended Arun Lal Academy after three or four years. The pitch was for cement. There was not much room for run-up. It caught me off guard. But I still bowled,” he remarked.
