We feel like a stronger T20I team since we weren’t simply good in the ODI World Cup: Moeen Ali

In the just ended ODI World Cup, England placed seventh overall.

In the major event of 2023, England, the 2019 ODI World Cup winners, were in ruins. For the most part, the Jos Buttler-led team fell short of expectations, and as a result, they were unable to make the playoffs. They almost lost their chance to qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025, but the Three Lions pulled through with back-to-back victories over Pakistan and the Netherlands. The team’s performance in the prestigious Indian event, however, did not excite all-rounder Moeen Ali. He explained that every team experiences this from time to time after mentioning that they weren’t talented enough to win. He continued by saying that the batters’ lack of form may have cost them the championship.

“Throughout the entire World Cup, we played poorly. In cricket, it is not uncommon for hitters to be out of form. We’ve been so wonderful for so long, but this is one of those instances where we simply failed to deliver. Moeen Ali said to Gulf News on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi T10, “It is a World Cup and a special one where all teams were good, but we weren’t just good.”

We seem to be a superior Twenty20 team. We’ll definitely return stronger. Moeen Ali

Nonetheless, the 36-year-old expressed great optimism about the team’s prospects in the forthcoming T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to commence on June 3, 2024. He will attempt to reclaim the championship because he thinks England has a very strong squad in the game’s shortest version.

We wish to attempt victory once more. We seem to be a superior Twenty20 team. We’ll return stronger; I’m sure of it, Moeen Ali stated.

However, England rallied strongly in the second game of the series versus the West Indies after losing the opening one. Because Buttler, Sam Curran, and Will Jacks are playing well, they should have little trouble winning the third and final ODI of the series.
