Up to 1,166 players have signed up for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction, which takes place on Tuesday, December 19, in Dubai. Nonetheless, the Mumbai Indians discharged top England pacer Jofra Archer, and he has not registered.

Harshal Patel, Kedar Jadhav, Shardul Thakur, and Umesh Yadav are the only four Indian players with caps who have set their base price at a maximum of INR 2 crore. KKR let go of Shardul and Umesh, but Royal Challengers Bangalore released Harshal and Kedar prior to the auction. The base price for the final 14 Indian players with caps is still INR 50 lakh.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has not provided an explanation for Archer’s decision to forego the player auction. Nonetheless, several English legends have registered, like Dawid Malan, Harry Brook, and Adil Rashid, among others.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed the franchisees that they are able to recommend players in addition to those who have already registered. Those players will automatically be added to the roster if they express interest in playing. The BCCI has also requested a list of the players from the Register that the franchises would like to see included in the auction. The teams have been informed that just 77 spots must be filled, with a maximum of 30 players from outside the country.
