Mitchell McClenaghan on a possible IPL comeback: "MI would be a goal of mine."

Mitchell McClenaghan, a former cricket player from New Zealand, recently stepped forward to discuss a possible reunion with the Mumbai Indians, the five-time IPL (Indian Premier League) champions. McClenaghan, who is presently playing for the Manipal Tigers in the Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2023, has a great deal of IPL competition experience.

Mitchell McClenaghan, who played for the Mumbai Indians from 2015 to 2020, was a key member of the team, claiming 71 wickets in 56 games. The 37-year-old congratulated the squad and clarified that his release from the organization in 2020 was a “see you later” rather than a “farewell.”

Speaking about the same, McClenaghan stated that it has always been his dream to rejoin the Mumbai Indians. However, he is presently completing his coaching studies, so it will be interesting to watch if the 37-year-old will be joining the star-studded team in a mentoring capacity in the near future.

People frequently ask me when I’m returning on Twitter, but at the moment, I’m completing my coaching courses and attempting to learn more about that aspect of the game because it’s one that I enjoy and would like to continue participating in. So who knows if that happens locally, back home, or globally in the T20 circuit? Reuniting with that franchise would definitely be one of my goals, Mitchell McClenaghan stated to the Hindustan Times.

McClenaghan also expressed his sorrow for Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who lost to Australia in the tournament’s last match and therefore failed to win the just-finished ODI World Cup 2023. Emphasizing Rohit’s commitment to major tournaments, McClenaghan expressed empathy for the Indian captain.

“Knowing how much work Rohit puts into his tournament preparation and knowing that this would have been a significant trophy for him to check off, I feel terrible for him specifically. Therefore, considering how he has transformed Indian cricket over the past few years, I do feel bad for him because he didn’t receive the outcome he would have wanted and maybe deserved, McClenaghan stated.
