Young left-handed hitter Tilak Varma stressed the value of keeping an unambiguous and simple approach before the second Twenty20 International. In the opening Twenty20 International, Varma gave some insight into his tactics. He said that he felt he should take the initiative while the leg spinner was bowling because the team wanted him to get 10 runs per over in that scenario.
“We wanted 10 points per over, and since the leg spinner was bowling in that scenario, I wanted to take the lead,” the speaker said. So, I had a distinct mentality at the moment. I’ll go for the leg spinner if he’s bowling. As a result, captain Surya Bhai Suryakumar Yadav was batting for fast bowlers and a settled batsman. Therefore, I had faith in his ability to finish against quick bowlers. I want to charge the leg spinner in particular because of it,” Tilak stated, as reported by India Today.
The 21-year-old batter placed a strong emphasis on playing simply and being true to his position on the squad.
“I have a straightforward mindset. I have a position in the team, as I have stated previously. I just want to stay in that capacity, and I’ll be honest about it,” Tilak Varma continued.
Ishan Kishan’s outstanding 58 off 39 and captain Suryakumar Yadav’s scorching 80 off 42 spearheaded India’s winning chase of 209 runs in the opening Twenty20 International.
