Clarke had issued a warning, saying that the team will be subject to the same criticism as the Wallabies rugby team if they did not improve. “If we are not careful, the conversation we have been having about the Wallabies the last three weeks will be having about the Australian cricket team in two weeks’ time,” Clarke stated.
But Australia persevered and won their sixth World Cup, proving their tenacity and capacity for comebacks as they won nine straight games, including the two elimination rounds.

“We will be laughable if we are losing to South Africa and the subcontinental teams with that kind of performance. If we’re not careful, in two weeks we’ll be having the same conversation we’ve been having for the past three weeks about the Wallabies about the Australian cricket team. We ought to have traveled to India while we were at our best,” Zampa stated.
