Politician Shashi Tharoor of India expressed shock that Sanju Samson was left out of the Indian T20I team for the match against Australia. Outstanding in T20 cricket, the Kerala wicketkeeper-batter is currently leading the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. Still, he is ignored, which causes some in the cricket community to take notice. Like many others, Tharoor finds it inexplicable that Samson has not been back, considering his current form and ability in the shorter format.

Discontent has been sparked by Sanju Samson’s exclusion from Ajit Agarkar’s panel’s selection notwithstanding the absence of important players. Using social media, Tharoor expressed his dissatisfaction with the gifted wicketkeeper-batter’s absence, expressing a sentiment that is common among many who want justice for Samson’s underappreciated ability.

Shashi Tharoor and ardent supporters of Samson’s cause have taken to social media to voice their displeasure with the decision.

This is really beyond explanation. Not only should Sanju Samson have been chosen, but he ought to have taken charge of the team while the seniors weren’t there. Compared to SKY, his captaincy experience with the Kerala and Rajasthan Royals is more recent. It is imperative that our selections provide an explanation to the cricket enthusiasts. Why isn’t Yuzvendra Chahal there as well? Tharoor penned on “X.”

The bus leaves Sanju Samson behind before the Australia series

The selection process for India’s upcoming five-match Twenty20 International series against Australia may have been hampered by Sanju Samson’s inconsistent performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and recent performances for Kerala. Even though he has shown glimpses of promise in his batting, his inconsistent play with the Indian team continues. His exclusion from the World Cup 2023 squad in favor of Suryakumar Yadav highlights the predilection of the selectors, who ignored the Kerala batter despite his sporadic standout performances.

For their five-game Twenty20 International series against Australia, which is scheduled to start in Vishakhapatnam on November 23, the BCCI released their 15-man roster. As the board rested veteran players, Suryakumar Yadav took over as captain of India for the first time, a testament to his skill in this style of cricket. This action demonstrates India’s strategic baseline for the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024 and provides an early look at their preparations.
