There were many hot moments during Bangladesh vs. Sri Lanka’s Match 38 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which took place at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Players from both teams were seen shoving one another. After an appeal from Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan, Angelo Mathews was given a strange timed-out dismissal in the first innings of the thrilling match, marking the first time in the history of international cricket.

After dismissing the Bangladesh captain in the 32nd over, the Sri Lankan all-rounder gave him a proper send-off later in the second innings. The southpaw earned a leading edge on the opening delivery of the over after failing to read Mathews’ slower ball. Shakib’s innings was ended as the ball traveled through the air and was caught by Charith Asalanka at short mid-off.

Mathews dismissed Shakib Al Hasan and motioned for the Bangladeshi captain to “time over” by pointing to his wrist.

Bangladesh was led home by Shakib Al Hasan and Shanto’s amazing partnership.

Shakib scored a solid 82 from 65 balls before being bowled out, hitting two sixes and twelve fours during his innings. He and Najmul Hossain Shanto (90 off 101) shared a stunning 169-run stand off 149 balls for the third wicket. The pair ended Bangladesh’s six-match losing streak by helping them chase down the target of 280 in 41.1 overs and win the match by three wickets.

Charith Asalanka’s outstanding century of 108 off 105 balls, which included six fours and five sixes, helped Sri Lanka record 279 runs on the board earlier in the first innings. In addition to him, two more important batsmen were Pathum Nissanka (41 off 36) and Sadeera Samarawickrama (41 off 42).

Bangladesh’s best bowler was Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who finished with scores of 3/80 in 10 overs. Other bowlers who claimed two wickets apiece were Shakib Al Hasan (2/57) and Shoriful Islam (2/52 9.3 overs).
