Prolific Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja made a lighthearted remark on his position on the team. Jadeja expressed her opinion regarding his influence on the side, saying that although he always thinks like a captain, he is not one.
“I think like a captain from day one, but it’s another thing that I’m not the one. It’s my responsibility as an all-rounder to score thirty to thirty-five runs while breaking partnerships.
Every time I perform, I strive to make an impression, stated Ravindra Jadeja.
Furthermore, I never undervalue fielding. I’m constantly ready so that even if I make a catch, I don’t let my guard down on the field. I can also miss a catch. So I simply keep attempting. I do and don’t do it at different times. However, I never give up,” he said.
At the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday, November 5, India defeated South Africa by a massive 237 runs in the 37th game of the tournament. Jadeja was outstanding in that match. Virat Kohli’s 49th ODI century and Shreyas Iyer’s significant half-century helped team India set a total of 326 runs on the board in the first innings. The squad then outscored their opponents with an incredible bowling display.
With a stellar five-wicket haul following a 29-run cameo with the bat, Jadeja was the team’s leading wicket taker. In addition to Jadeja, Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav each claimed two wickets, and Mohammed Siraj scored one as India easily defeated South Africa for a mere 83 runs.
With regards to his performance, Jadeja expressed his satisfaction at being able to make a contribution and promised to play with greater confidence in the upcoming matches. “I am glad that I can help the team out in crucial games; my rhythm has been strong in the previous few games. Using both the bat and the ball, I’m delivering. In the next games, I’ll have greater self-assurance in my own abilities,” Jadeja declared.
