For making disparaging remarks about him and Javed Miandad, former Pakistani cricket player turned journalist PJ Mir has received a court letter from former wicketkeeper Rashid Latif. A notice requesting an apology within 14 days has been sent; if not, Mir would be required to pay Rs 1 billion for tarnishing the former cricket player’s reputation.
Notably, PJ Mir had stated on a Pakistan station that Rashid Latif had slapped Javed Miandad in Antigua during Pakistan’s 1993 West Indies trip. In response, Latif declared that he had never raised his voice or hit the renowned cricket player, referring to him as Pakistan’s pride and national hero.
“I never slapped or even raised my voice in front of legendary Javed Miandad,”Rashid Latif wrote on X.
In addition to being an ICC Hall of Famer and a cricket icon, Javed bhai is also a national hero and a source of pride for Pakistan. It was an honor to make my Pakistani debut while he was captain. He is a legend in cricket, and I have gained a lot of knowledge from him. I treat him with paternal respect. I have sent Mr. PJ Mir a formal notice, via my lawyer, requesting that he submit an unequivocal apology and issue a suitable retraction over the baseless remarks he made about Javed bhai and me within the next fourteen days. @umairkaz and @Javed__Miandad.”

While recounting an incident involving arguments in the changing room, PJ Mir made the startling claim on Samaa TV. The two panelists on the channel, former cricket players Shahid Afridi and Mushtaq Ahmed, were taken aback by his revelation. Mir continued by saying that the mood in Pakistan’s dressing room had been destroyed in 1993 and that Miandad should brush it off and move on from the incident.
