A good deal of highs and lows have been seen as spectators get closer to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, but in the middle of the excitement, there was one thing that made cricket fans laugh. A tiny glitch occurred in a graphic meant to display the bowlers with the best economy rates from the tournament.
A pretty comical technological issue meant that Bangladeshi batsman Mushfiqur Rahim was the top chart-topper, with an amazingly economical rate of 0.00.

Along with naming the top five bowlers in the main event—Angelo Mathews excluded—the image also shows that Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin had economy rates of 3.91, 3.75, and 3.40, respectively. If the Mushfiqur Rahim error hadn’t happened, Mathews would have been first on the rankings, followed by the three Indian bowlers.
The fight heats up as eyes turn to the list of top wicket takers. With an impressive 16 wickets, Australia’s Adam Zampa continues to lead the way. With 14 wickets from each of their two innings, Mitchell Santner of New Zealand and India’s speedster Jasprit Bumrah are tied for second place.
With their bowling abilities, Bumrah and Jadeja are impeding India’s opponents.
Their habit of bowling nagging lengths is directly responsible for their excellent economy rates. Six wickets at an economical rate of 3.06 have come from Bumrah’s 66% of deliveries that find the right spot. Jadeja has taken seven wickets in the meanwhile, with 92% of his deliveries staying at that length.
Rather than inviting batsmen into the broad drive with a 5.9 economy rate by regularly throwing the ball in the full zone, Siraj chooses to target the good length every time, leaving hitters to make mistakes on their own. He has only taken two wickets with the new ball and has an economy of 2.9, which is evidence of his plan.
