Pakistan were fined by the ICC for their slow over rate in their World Cup encounter against South Africa.
Pakistan was penalized for a sluggish over rate in their most recent encounter against South Africa, which dealt a further damage to their already struggling ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup campaign. During South Africa’s batting innings in Chennai, the Asian team was discovered to be four overs short, and they were fined twenty percent of their match money.

According to the ICC Code of Conduct, players who fail to bowl an over within the designated time will be penalized five percent of their match fee. Following Pakistan’s defeat by South Africa, the accusation was leveled by third umpire Richard Illingworth, fourth umpire Richard Kettleborough, and on-field umpires Alex Wharf and Paul Reiffel.

Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, also agreed to the penalty.

In their six World Cup outings this year, Pakistan has only won twice. The 1992 winners must win their final three games to stand any chance of making it to the semi-finals. Their next matchup, which is expected to be a must-win, is against Bangladesh on Tuesday in Kolkata.
