Pursuing improvement rather than perfection has always been my motto:  Virat Kohli

After making it five victories out of five, Team India defeated New Zealand by four wickets thanks to another of Virat Kohli outstanding chase strokes. With this victory, Team India is now leading the ICC cricket World Cup.

Speaking exclusively to Star Sports’ “Follow the Blues” program ahead of India’s pivotal match against the reigning champions England, cricket sensation Virat Kohli of India offered his thoughts on cultivating a “elite mentality” and revealed their strategies for being dependable on the field.

Cricket star Virat Kohli of India gave an exclusive interview to the Star Sports program “Follow the Blues” where he talked about the need of cultivating a “elite mentality” and revealed his strategies for staying steady on the field.

Every day, every practice session, every year, and every season, I have always strived to improve myself. That’s what has enabled me to play and perform for this long. Without that mentality, I don’t think it’s feasible to perform consistently since, if performance is your only objective, you could eventually lose interest in improving your skills and stop trying new things,” he stated.

“I would say that my motto has always been to pursue improvement rather than excellence because, to be honest, I have no idea what excellence is. There is no upper limit to it, and there is no predetermined criterion that says you have attained greatness if you arrive here. So, a better word to use would be “betterment,” as I strive to improve myself every day. Indeed, since your main focus is on how to help the team win now, performance naturally becomes a byproduct,” he continued.
