Shot of the Day: Rohit Sharma launches Matt Henry for a massive six in the second over of India vs. New Zealand's ODI World Cup 2023 match.

On Sunday, October 22 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, Match 21 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will feature a match between India and New Zealand. The toss was won by India’s captain Rohit Sharma, who once more requested that New Zealand bat first. Mohammed Shami’s third career five-wicket haul, which limited the Kiwis to 273, provided proof that the choice was the right one.

In the second innings, captain Rohit Sharma gave his team another great start by scoring 46 runs off of only 40 deliveries, including four fours and four sixes.

The first batsman made his intentions known by glancing Trent Boult for four on the second ball of the first over. He came down the track against Matt Henry in the second over and blasted him over long on for a massive six.

The Indian captain, however, was unable to reach his fifty against Lockie Ferguson, when he sliced one back onto the stumps. India lost their first wicket at 71 after 11.1 overs as a result. Shubman Gill (74 off 81), Shreyas Iyer (33 off 29), and KL Rahul (27 off 35) all forfeited their starts after his dismissal as New Zealand mounted a comeback in the middle overs.

With his fifer, Mohammed Shami gave India a chance to win the match again.

The Kiwis lost their openers Devon Conway (0 off 9) and Will Young (17 off 27) with just 17 runs scored after 8.1 overs earlier in the day after being given the opportunity to bat first. Rachin Ravindra (75 off 87) and Daryl Mitchell (130 off 127) engaged in a huge 159-run stand for the third wicket after realizing their team was in trouble.

After their outstanding partnership, India strengthened their control over the game as Mohammed Shami claimed his third career five-wicket haul. New Zealand was dismissed for 273 in their allotted 50 overs thanks to the right-arm seamer’s 5/54 in ten overs.
