The incident occurred when the starting batter was traveling to Pune to meet the Indian team before their upcoming match against Bangladesh on Thursday, October 19.

Sharma allegedly exceeded the 200 km/h limit while driving, which led to the issuance of three online traffic citations for his car for careless driving.

A traffic department official reportedly voiced worries about the Indian captain’s careless driving on a busy highway during the World Cup and proposed that he should be riding in the team bus with a police escort. This was reported in Pune Mirror. According to the allegation, the Indian captain was also driving a Lamborghini with the number “264” representing his best ODI score.

The 36-year-old, who is currently India’s leading run scorer in the World Cup, has been in phenomenal form throughout the competition. With 150 runs scored in three innings at an average of 72.33 and a strike rate of 141.83, Rohit Sharma has scored 217 runs overall.
