In Dharamsala, Captain Fantastic Scott Edwards discusses Dutch pleasure.

The captain of the Netherlands, Scott Edwards, discussed how his team fared against South Africa in the ODI World Cup match. In Dharamsala, the Netherlands defeated Temba Bavuma and company by 38 runs to claim their first victory in the ongoing competition. In five appearances at the premier event, this was their first victory over a Test-playing country.

After recording the first victory, Scott Edwards expressed his satisfaction and said that he believes his team is moving in the right direction.

The wicketkeeper-batter continued by saying that the victory gives them greater confidence going into the remaining games.

“We had great expectations going into this event, we think we’re playing fantastic cricket, and we have a lot of good players… Having said that, we are aware of nine additional positive aspects of this situation. As a result, Edwards was quoted by ESPNcricinfo as stating, “So, yeah, very delighted to get our first win out of the way after three games and maybe a few more to follow.

“That gives us a tremendous lift. We were in good situations in the first and second games, but we kind of lost steam in the middle. It was nice that, in the final match [against South Africa], we were able to put together a couple partnerships and bring our total up to what we considered a competitive level, he continued.

When the Netherlands were in trouble at 82/5 after being asked to bat first, Edwards entered the fray at position no. 7. After Roelof van der Merwe was dismissed for 29 runs in the 40th over, the 27-year-old and the eighth wicket added 64 runs to their partnership, bringing the Netherlands’ score to 204/4.

The captain and Aryan Dutt then had a 41-run partnership for the ninth wicket. Aryan Dutt led the Netherlands to 245 for 8 in 43 overs with an unbeaten 23 in nine balls. Edwards, on the other side, was named Player of the Match after scoring an unbroken 78 off 69 deliveries, which included ten boundaries and one maximum.
