For the largest Cricket World Cup, the International Cricket Council (ICC) introduces “Cricket’s Greatest Canvas” with Padma Shri Indian artist Paresh Maity. The largest Cricket World Cup in history will be commemorated through art thanks to an initiative called “Cricket’s Greatest Canvas” that has been launched by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The renowned Indian painter Paresh Maity, who won the Padma Shri award, will use canvas to depict the unique character of each of the ten top-notch locations and the electric environment.

In cities all throughout India, including Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad, this incredible spectacle will take place as Maity brings his creative brilliance to life.

He will create masterpieces of cricket while the matches are in full swing, capturing the essence of the game with his vivid colors and creative brushwork. The World Cup experience will take on a completely new dimension as viewers and art fans alike get the rare opportunity to see Maity’s inventiveness in action as the matches progress. His live painting performances attempt to combine the beauty of artistic expression with a love of both art and cricket.

The first piece of art was exhibited on October 7 during South Africa’s victory against Sri Lanka in Delhi’s opening World Cup game.

The following locations will host the additional live painting events that will continue to enhance the World Cup experience:

October 31 in Kolkata, Pakistan vs. Bangladesh on November 2 in Mumbai, and South Africa vs. Afghanistan on November 10 in Ahmedabad

Great literature and artwork have long drawn inspiration from cricket, according to Claire Furlong, general manager of marketing and communications at the International Cricket Council. We are honored that a talented artist of Paresh Marty’s caliber will work with us in stadiums all throughout the nation to document memorable events from the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Fans will have the opportunity to watch one of India’s greatest painters at work as he creates ten canvases that will perfectly capture the essence of this event through the live in-stadium painting.

“It is an honor for India to be hosting the Cricket World Cup to showcase the best athletes from all over the world,” stated Paresh Maity. I observed and painted the South Africa vs. Sri Lanka game in Delhi and had the impression that this competition is a festival that connects everyone. I am privileged to be the ICC’s In Stadia Artist and am looking forward to capturing the charm of the 10 locations, four of which are used for matches.
