In a tragic turn of events, Afghanistan has experienced a string of strong earthquakes that have left destruction and misery in their wake. Former Afghanistan cricket captain Asghar Afghan has made an emotive plea on social media as we all consider the impacted individuals.
“Hello International Cricket Council, I! I’m writing to you on behalf of the people and villages of Herat, Afghanistan, who have just experienced catastrophic earthquakes. These folks are in urgent need of support and aid due to the extensive destruction and loss of lives, Asghar Afghan tweeted.
I implore you to show your sincere compassion and support for individuals affected by earthquakes as an organization that speaks for the cricketing world. In addition to offering comfort in these trying times, this act of compassion will also show how committed we all are to helping those in need, he said.
Asghar Afghan further asked the ICC to support cricket players, teams, and franchises in organizing activities to raise money for the earthquake victims in Afghanistan.
“Every contribution, whether in the form of money, supplies for the victims, or volunteer work, can significantly lessen the suffering these people are experiencing. In light of their participation of Afghanistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup, Mohammad Nabi & Rashid Khan, Two Afghan Cricket Stars, could be useful resources for these humanitarian and charitable endeavors, Asgar continued.

The earthquakes, one of which had a magnitude of 6.3, occurred around 35 kilometers northwest of the city of Herat and sparked widespread fear. The National Disaster Management Authority reports that there have been a startling 2,053 fatalities and 9,240 recorded injuries.
