The Asian Games bronze medal was won by Bangladesh over Pakistan on October 7 at the Zhejiang University of Technology Cricket Field in Hangzhou thanks to Rakibul Hasan last-ball four. Bangladesh needed to score 65 runs in five overs to win the rain-delayed game after DLS altered the target. Pakistan had already reached 48 for 1 following a delayed start, but a second shower halted their batting after five overs.

Bangladesh chose to field first after winning the toss in the game. Khushdil Shah and Mirza Baig opened Pakistan’s innings with a 47-run partnership after the start was delayed by rain. With Baig striking an undefeated 32 off 18 deliveries, the pair’s partnership lasted 4.4 overs.

The crucial bowler for Bangladesh was left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan, who took one wicket and gave up 12 runs in two overs.

Arshad Iqbal’s double-wicket blow in the first over gave Pakistan the advantage early on in Bangladesh’s chase. However, Bangladesh’s innings was stabilized by Afif Hossain’s 20 runs off of 11 balls and Yasir Ali’s 34 runs off of 16 balls.

Yasir scored 34 runs, including two sixes off the first four balls, while Sufiyan Muqeem was unable to hold down 20 off the final over. It was a do-or-die final delivery for the following batter Rakibul Hasan after the Bangladesh batter was dismissed in the game’s penultimate ball, which came extremely close to sending Bangladesh home. The latter, though, entered the game and scored a goal to win it.

India and Afghanistan face off in the final

The Asian Games men’s cricket final between India and Afghanistan finally began on October 7 at the cricket field at Zhejiang University of Technology in Hangzhou.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of India, chose to field first after winning the toss. Afghanistan’s top order was dismantled by the Indian bowlers, giving them the worst possible start. Shahidullah, who was introduced, stabilized the Afghanistan innings. As Bangladesh were 112/5 in 18.2 overs, rain played spoilsport.
