Mohammad Azharuddin, a former Indian cricketer, has been barred from running in the upcoming Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) elections, which is a major setback for the 60-year-old. On October 20, the Justice Lavu Nageswara Rao Committee will hold the HCA elections.
After the former cricketer presided over Deccan Blues while serving as the HCA’s president, the decision to ban Mohammad Azharuddin was made. The committee disqualified Azharuddin since this went against the HCA rules.
It is important to note that VS Sampath published the HCA election notification on September 30. Additionally, elections will be held for a number of positions, including those for the executive committee, secretary, assistant secretary, treasurer, and president and vice president of the HCA.
Notably, nominations for the positions may be submitted between October 11 and October 13, with the scrutiny set for October 14. There is also the possibility to withdraw from the nominations, and that deadline is October 16. On October 20, there will be voting in this election, and results will also be announced that day.
It has also been reported that the Supreme Court decided it was appropriate to hold the HCA elections again in order to remove any leftover misunderstanding because of the conflict between Mohammad Azharuddin and the different committee members.
The Justice Kakru group was disbanded by the Supreme Court as a result of numerous disagreements within the group, which led to the decision to hold the elections. Former justice Lavu Nageshwara Rao was tasked with managing the HCA’s affairs after it was disbanded.
Rao was the one who, citing a conflict of interest, struck the 60-year-old’s name from the list of voters in the HCA polls. The former Indian skipper was notified of his dismissal by Rao in a very thorough letter. Now that the choice has been made, Azharuddin is yet to discuss the subject and share his opinions.
