South Africa's strongest anticipated lineup for the match against Sri Lanka at the ODI World Cup in 2023

On Saturday, October 7, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, South Africa and Sri Lanka will play in the fourth match of the ODI World Cup 2023. South Africa will be motivated to perform well and win their opening match.

The team’s warm-up games were a failure as they lost to New Zealand by seven runs (DLS) and their match against Afghanistan was postponed. Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka in both of their warm-up matches by seven wickets, while Afghanistan defeated them by six wickets (DLS). In the World Cup’s first round, both teams will be hoping that things turn out differently.

The starting lineup for South Africa against Sri Lanka is as follows:

Openers: Temba Bavuma (c), Quinton de Kock (wk)

Captain Temba For the Proteas, Bavuma will take the initiative and drive forward. Bavuma will bat first and try to get his team off to a fast start against Sri Lanka. Bavuma has established himself on the biggest platform with 1367 runs in 30 ODIs, and he will strive to be his best self throughout the competition.

Quinton de Kock, a wicketkeeper and hitter, will open the innings with Bavuma. De Kock, who has played in 145 ODIs and amassed 6176 runs for his team, has a ton of experience and might end up being one of South Africa’s most important players.

Middle Order: Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller

The middle class in South Africa is a force to be reckoned with. Rassie van der Dussen’s expertise will assist the side in gaining stability. Van der Dussen’s performance could be crucial for the Proteas with 1874 runs in 49 ODIs at an average of 56.78 runs.

Aiden Markram, one of the team’s best batters, will aim to play to the best of his skills as well. With 515 runs in his last nine games, he is one of the team’s most effective batters. Markram, who might rank among the top run scorers, will essentially be the team’s leader on the field.

David Miller and Heinrich Klassen will attempt to close off the Proteas’ inning. Klassen has established himself as one of the most reliable middle-order hitters in the format with 1323 runs in 41 ODIs. Miller’s bat repertoire, on the other hand, is something that is well known.

All-rounder: Marco Jansen

Marco Jansen, a bowling all-rounder, may end up becoming one of the most crucial players for South Africa. Jansen has been in outstanding form with the ball, picking up 15 wickets in his previous 10 games. He is as effective when using a bat.

Bowlers: Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Lungi Ngidi

South Africa’s bowling lineup completes the team and gives them the best chance of making it far in the tournament thanks to its ideal fusion of pace and spin attack. Keshav Maharaj, 33, will try to do his greatest acts and achieve breakthroughs as rapidly as possible. Maharaj has played 31 ODIs for South Africa thus far, taking 37 wickets with a 4.69 economy rate.

There is no need to introduce Kagiso Rabada. Rabada has taken 144 wickets in 92 one-day internationals, terrorizing even the best batters in the world of cricket with his lethal pace. He will want to enhance his total during the World Cup, and since Anrich Nortje won’t be playing because of an injury, the burden of proof falls more heavily on him.

Another player who might have a significant impact for South Africa in the competition is star spinner Tabraiz Shamsi. Shamsi will try to continue his success on Indian fields after taking 12 wickets in his last six games.

Being one of the top players on the team, Lungi Ngidi has made a name for himself. He is another significant member in South Africa’s lineup with a wealth of experience, having taken 78 wickets in 48 ODIs.

Temba Bavuma (captain), Quinton de Kock (wk), Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Lungi Ngidi make up South Africa’s expected starting XI.
