Shubman Gill is contagious and will likely miss the Australia match during the ODI World Cup in 2023.

Shubman Gill ongoing health difficulties make it uncertain whether he will play in the pivotal World Cup opener against Australia, putting the Indian cricket team in a difficult situation.

The involvement of Shubman Gill in Sunday’s match in Chennai against Australia is in doubt since he is battling a high temperature.  Ishan Kishan may open the innings alongside Rohit Sharma in his absence.

Shubman Gill has been a productive force in India’s ODI batting order.

The final decision, however, is dependent on Gill’s health and the advice of the team’s medical personnel. His health issues have been a source of worry ever since he arrived in Chennai, said an insider from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Since arriving in Chennai, Shubman Gill has had a fever. His exams are being performed. After tests on Friday, it will be decided whether he can play in the first game. Let’s not act prematurely. The medical staff will make the final decision, but if it’s a typical viral fever, he might play while taking antibiotics, a BCCI source said.

According to sources, the batter is undergoing a dengue test, which could reveal a serious mosquito-borne infection. If these tests reveal that the 24-year-old has dengue, he might not only miss the upcoming game but also be out for a lengthier period of time. Dengue recovery takes anywhere between 7 and 10 days on average, although it might take longer or shorter.

The Punjab batter’s vision of 2023 has so far been nothing less than a pipe dream. Across a variety of media, the youthful sensation has delivered some electrifying performances. He is anticipated to be crucial in India’s quest for World Cup success this year. He presently holds the coveted No. 2 position in the ICC ODI batter rankings, which is a testimonial to his remarkable talent and performance.
