The ICC Cricket World Cup will begin on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad with England taking on New Zealand. Notably, England is the defending champion going into the ODI World Cup. Jos Buttler, the captain of England, was confronted with an odd query regarding the team’s lineup during the press conference prior to the game. He was asked by a reporter about the effect James Anderson’s absence from the team and Stuart Broad’s recent retirement will have on England’s bowling.

Jos Buttler responded to the query with wit and added that the team has an adequate quantity of bowlers.

“I believe Jimmy is still a viable candidate. He hasn’t played since 2015, and despite Stuart’s retirement, I don’t believe he has either. Unfortunately, those two men will not be competing in this tournament. However, we do have a strong group of quick bowlers and spinners, making for a well-balanced team, Buttler said.

A journalist asked Jos Buttler in the PC if the absence of Anderson and Broad will affect their pace bowling in the tournament?Just look at him,he was trying so hard not to laugh 😂😭.#CWC23

Using the DLS technique, England defeated Bangladesh by four wickets in the World Cup warm-up game played at the Barasapara Stadium in Guwahati. Prior to this, the same location saw the cancellation of their first warm-up match versus the hosts, India.

England triumphed in its home ODI series against both England and Ireland prior to the warm-up matches. In the four-match ODI series against the Kiwis, England displayed great play and won the series 3-1.

The odds-on favorite to win the World Cup opener is England. England’s captain Jos Buttler recently remarked that he dislikes the term “defending champions,” as his team will strive to win rather than defend the crown.
