The Indian team left the Guwahati airport on Sunday for Trivandrum with the hopes of playing the Dutch team without any rain. In India’s opening ODI World Cup 2023 warm-up game, captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first, recalling their initial warm-up match against England. Mother Nature, however, had other ideas as she unleashed a torrential downpour on Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium, engulfing the city in foreboding clouds and ultimately forcing the game’s cancellation.
Despite the washout, everyone is now focused on the forthcoming match between India and the Netherlands since it serves as an exciting prelude to the main event, when Team India is scheduled to begin their World Cup campaign against Australia on October 8 in Chennai.
