The choice of Shardul Thakur for the 2019 ODI World Cup has generated a lot of debate. The 2007 T20 World Cup champion acknowledged Shardul’s ability to take wickets and referred to him as a bowler of the highest caliber, but expressed concern about his economy rate.
Notably, the cricketer from Palghar has recently played frequently for the national team after Mohammed Shami was passed over by team management for the just finished Asia Cup. His ability to make fast cameos with the bat has made him one of the starters, and the Rohit Sharma-led team is anticipated to follow the same strategy in the ODI World Cup. Robin Uthappa’s ODI economy, though, continues to worry him.
“Shardul Thakur might cause Team India problems. He is a good bowler who gets wickets, but he also gives up a lot of runs.
He may be quite pricey. He will need to pay close attention to that. He is someone who will always take wickets, but when he doesn’t, he appears to be a little overpriced. He was affectionately known as the golden arm in CSK. For the Indian team, I am confident that his job will be fairly similar,” Uthappa stated on his YouTube page.
Ashwin received praise from Uthappa for his outstanding effort against Australia.
Axar Patel has been replaced in the Indian ODI World Cup roster by Ravichandran Ashwin, who is anticipated to play a significant part in the competition. The cricketer from Chennai should feel more confident since he has the necessary experience and is now in good rhythm. In the meantime, Uthappa praised the cricketer and predicted that he will be a threat in the World Cup.
