Basheer ‘Chacha’ (uncle), a well-known Pakistani cricket fan, recently encountered an odd circumstance at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA). Before their ICC Cricket World Cup warm-up match, Basheer, who is also a US citizen, had come to welcome the Pakistan cricket team.
As eight o’clock drew near, Pakistan arrived at the airport to cheers from its supporters. Basheer, who was ecstatic to see his beloved Men in Green, was among the gathering. He showed his support by waving the Pakistani flag with fervor.
The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport police, however, were alerted by the sight of the flag being raised, and they moved quickly to detain Basheer.
They captured him out of concern for everyone’s safety, which temporarily stopped the celebration.
Once they clarified the mistake, Basheer Chacha, the devoted supporter, aided the police. He stated that he was a fervent admirer of the Pakistan cricket team who had come to India for the game. He attempted to calm the situation by presenting his identification cards, tickets, and travel paperwork, which let the officials feel more at ease.
After this small hitch, Basheer was let go and the welcoming atmosphere resumed. Meanwhile, strict security measures have been implemented in advance of the next Pakistan vs. New Zealand encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal on September 29.
