Tim Southee confirmed flight to India for the 2023 ODI World Cup, and Kyle Jamieson will accompany him for training

Tim Southee, a senior pacer from New Zealand, has been given the go-ahead to join the team in India, which is a big development with just a few days until the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. The Blackcaps, who have been dealing with numerous injury problems in the run-up to the competition, are extremely relieved by Southee’s inclusion.

Tim Southee decided to have surgery to repair a dislocated and fractured thumb he had sustained on the England tour. His availability for the World Cup was now in question as a result of this choice, which worried the team. Southee’s recovery has been going well, though, and he will soon be joining his teammates for the major competition in India.

This encouraging report was received following New Zealand’s excellent 2-0 series win over Bangladesh. Kane Williamson, who is also expected to play after a protracted injury layoff, will have the reins of leadership in his skilled hands. Williamson’s presence will unquestionably improve the team’s spirits and increase their chances of winning the World Cup.

Although Tim Southee is making progress in his recovery, the Kiwis are being cautious and have brought up pace-bowler Kyle Jamieson to practise with the World Cup team in India this week.

He won’t, however, be a recognized member of the World Cup team and won’t be able to participate in the exhibition games.

With warm-up games against Pakistan and South Africa before their tournament opener against England on October 5, New Zealand is totally committed to their preparations. The Kiwis’ incredible performances at the 2015 and 2019 World Cups, when they made the finals on both occasions, will be interesting to see if they can duplicate.

New Zealand Team for the ODI World Cup:

Trent Boult, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Jimmy Neesham, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitch Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, and Will Young are among the players on the field.
