Jason Roy, England’s powerful opening batsman, is currently out of the action after being left off of the final 15-man roster for the much anticipated ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Roy was undoubtedly disappointed by the news, especially because he had been initially selected for the provisional squad. Marcus Trescothick, the assistant coach for England, has pushed Roy to keep a positive attitude in spite of this defeat.
Speaking prior to England’s final ODI match against Ireland, Marcus Trescothick expressed sympathy for the 33-year-old’s dissatisfaction but stressed the crucial part that reserves can play in World Cup campaigns. Harry Brook, a young player, took Roy’s place in the final squad.
“I haven’t spoken to Jason; he is undoubtedly disappointed, but you must believe that he can still have an impact. World Cups heavily rely on reserves. If you suffer just one injury, someone else could step in and make a ton of runs. We’ll decide whether to call him if he maintains his physical fitness and readiness, according to Marcus Trescothick, who was quoted by India Today.

Following his exclusion from the World Cup squad, the right-handed hitter, famed for his aggressive batting style and explosive starts at the top of the order, turned down the chance to replace Joe Root in the remaining ODIs against Ireland. Trescothick emphasized the management’s appreciation of Roy’s enormous skill while acknowledging the significance of this chance for Roy. Added he,
“It was a good chance for him to play a few more pitches and for a longer inning. We all know how talented he is; now is his turn; nevertheless, gaining the chance to play will be his biggest difficulty. Being a part of this wonderful team is difficult.
