India and Australia are currently playing a three-match one-day international series, and after winning the first two games, India has comfortably won the series. With the ODI World Cup 2023 rapidly approaching, the victory would do a lot to boost their confidence. India delivered an outstanding performance in the second ODI, winning by a score of 99 runs in a game plagued by rain. The fact that veteran Australian opener David Warner batted right-handed against Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, though, was one of the game’s most talked-about moments. Warner looked comfortable at the crease as he amassed 53 runs off of 39 deliveries.
He intended to bat right-handed against Ashwin. However, this ultimately sealed his fate because he was fired shortly after. In a similar spirit, Australian speedster Sean Abbott spoke up to offer an intriguing perspective on Warner’s right-handed batting in a high-stakes game. According to Sean Abbott, in an effort to disrupt Ashwin’s routine, he experimented because the Southpaw plays golf right-handed.
“I think Ashwin won’t frequently miss his length if David Warner just stands there and bats left-handed,” said Warner. He has the one that goes the other way, the straighter one, and all the variables that go along with that since the ball is spinning so much.
Davey simply believed he needed to switch things up, according to Sean Abbott, who was mentioned by OneCricket.
He considered those possibilities because he plays golf right-handed and is so dynamic with his switch-hitting and other skills. He practices batting in the nets and has done it previously, the speaker continued.
Australia lost the ODI series against India and the second match by a wide margin.
Speaking of the match, the visitors found it challenging as Australia was unable to chase down a revised target of 317 runs in 33 overs due to rain. It was clear that the Australians were under pressure from the run rate because they were consistently losing wickets. Mohammed Shami, one of the best bowlers, stunned Australia’s batting lineup with a devastating bowling performance.
India won the match by 99 runs, allowing the hosts to win the series. They will now look to complete a sweep in the final ODI. Australia and the hosts will now square off in Rajkot on September 27 for the series’ finale and third ODI.
