No matter what number I get to bat, I'm adaptable: Shreyas Iyer

Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer displayed his skill with a brilliant century against Australia, demonstrating a great amount of adaptability and unshakable dedication to the team’s goals. In the second ODI of the thrilling three-match series, which was played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, Shreyas Iyer spectacular 105 runs off 90 deliveries, garnished with 11 boundaries and three soaring sixes, was a key factor in India’s resounding 99-run triumph using the DLS technique.

Indian batting juggernaut orchestrated a dominant aim of 400 runs after being given the job of setting a difficult target by Australian captain Steve Smith. Invincible partners Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer both scored century, compiling a staggering 200-run stand. The 28-year-old clarified his flexibility in choosing his batting positions in a post-game interview with Jio Cinema, reflecting the team’s commitment to versatility. As he said,

“Management has informed me I’ll be batting at this specific number. At whatever position I get to bat at, I can adjust to whatever the team needs at the time. I don’t mind moving up or down in the order if I have to.

“I can’t be whining about that as a professional,” you say. Shreyas Iyer on rivalry among the team

Iyer has been selected to play for India in the 15-player squad that will represent the nation at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2023. Due to his great white ball record, he is regarded as the hitter who may be a powerful middle order supporter and has been given consideration. Despite ongoing concerns about his fitness, the Mumbai batter expressed his resolve to perform well.

“The best thing about being on a team is that there is competition. You anticipate difficulties when you represent India. I can’t grouse about it because I’m a professional. And all I can say is that I will seize the chance that the future offers and make sure I don’t miss a step, Iyer said.
