How does the prize money for the ODI World Cup 2023 compare to previous tournaments?

The anticipation for the highly anticipated 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup is at an all-time high as teams compete for a share of the USD 10 million in prize money.

The competition, which is scheduled to begin on October 5 in Ahmedabad, promises thrilling cricket action for spectators.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed a sizeable reward fund, with the competition’s winners poised to receive a substantial USD 4 million. The sum claimed by England during their successful 2019 campaign is the same as this one.

However, the benefits don’t end there. A generous consolation award of USD 2 million will be given to this World Cup’s runners-up. Even the semi-final teams who falter will not leave empty-handed because they will each get USD 800,000.

In 2019, the prize money was $4,000,000 for the winner, $2,000,000 for the runner-up, $800,000 for the losing semi-finalists, and there was no cash award for the losing quarter-finalists. Teams eliminated from the group stage received $100,000, and the winners of each group match received $40,000 each.

2015’s prizes were as follows: $3,975,000 went to the victor, $1,750,000 went to the runner-up, $600,000 went to the losing semi-finalists, and $30,000 went to the losing quarter-finalists. Teams eliminated from the group stage received $35,000, and the winners of each group match took home $45,000.
