After making significant progress in their respective regions, the Netherlands, USA, and Scotland have all formally confirmed their participation in the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier. Notably, eight of the ten seats have already been reserved, while the final two will be determined by the results of the December Africa Qualifier.
Following a convincing 30-run victory over Canada at the Woodley Cricket Complex in Los Angeles, USA clinched the lone slot in the Americas region. Isani Vaghela finished the tournament with as many as 15 wickets in her account after claiming a superb four-wicket haul for just 16 runs in her four overs at a 4.00 economy rate.
Disha Dhingra, however, led her team in scoring with 58 off 50 balls, including six boundaries, and was named player of the match in the USA’s victory.
Speaking of the T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, the Netherlands Women completely outplayed Italy to win by six wickets in a low-scoring match and secure their place in the tournament.
Scotland Women also demonstrated their superiority over France, defeating the latter team by an enormous margin of 155 runs. The team lead by Kathryn Bryce scored an enormous 204 runs in their allotted 20 overs, and they further held France to only 49 runs to ensure their place in the Global Qualifier.
The Netherlands finished their campaign in second place with 10 points and an NRR of 2.377, while Scotland took the first spot with 10 points at a Net Run Rate (NRR) of 3.777. All six of France’s games ended in defeat, while Italy gained four points from two victories.
In the past, Vanuatu made history by winning the only slot in the East Asia-Pacific Qualifier. Following impressive victories in the Asia Qualifier zone, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, and Thailand secured their spots in the qualifier. The other teams competing in the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier include Ireland and Sri Lanka.
