Waqar Younis, a renowned Pakistani bowler, stated reasons why he thought Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja may be suitable candidates. India was able to win the 2011 ODI World Cup thanks to some outstanding performances from every player. However, Yuvraj Singh all-around abilities—362 runs and 15 wickets—played the major part. The southpaw’s outstanding effort earned him Player of the Series honors. Next month, India will start a new World Cup campaign, and fans are asking who would fill Yuvraj’s position.
“Observe the contributions that Hardik and Jadeja make. They have a good bat and a good ball. Particularly after watching how he batted against Pakistan, I believe that Hardik Pandya is an extremely potent batsman at No. 6. Anyone on any team would be thrilled to have him. He is combative, and now, as we saw in the prior game, he is very reasonable and intelligent,” Waqar said to the host broadcaster during the India vs. Pakistan game for the 2023 Asia Cup.
Waqar was alluding to the Group A match between India and Pakistan, in which Hardik saved the “Men in Blue” with an 87-run innings off 90 balls after coming in to bat with the score at 66/4.
“These 2 at Nos. 6 and 7 will give India that push,” I believe. They only care about avoiding early wicket losses. They can rapidly win the game if you give these two players the final 10 overs, Waqar continued.
Sanjay Manjrekar was in a higher league than Yuvraj.
Sanjay Manjrekar, a former Indian batter, praised Hardik and Jadeja but said Yuvraj was in an other level entirely. Manjrekar worries about Hardik since the cricketer for Baroda might not be able to bowl 10 overs in every game.
The best white-ball batter in India is probably Yuvraj. He played in a separate league and had a winning record. Respectfully, Hardik and Jadeja aren’t quite there. Because that one discipline was so disciplined, these two bowlers are significantly superior to Yuvraj Singh, but Manjrekar continued until the former Pakistani captain interrupted him.
Not even Hardik Pandya, you say? With the batting that he has displayed? The desire is there, even though I’m not comparing them, Waqar Younis added.
“He has the potential, but when I see him at this stage, it’s not a guarantee that he will come and bowl all 10 overs like one of the mainstream bowlers,” Manjrekar retorted. I think of him more as an all-around batsman, and he played pretty well in the last game. Yes, they had the collective skill to make the kind of contribution that was made, but Yuvraj Singh’s discipline, as I mentioned, was at a higher level. Hardik the batter doesn’t require a bad ball or a loose ball to decide that this needs to be dropped, but his batting will succeed on pitches that suit Jadeja the bowler.
