“Virat Kohli is not just a cricketer; he’s an emotion,” says Nepalese all-rounder Sompal Kami after sharing a touching experience with India’s superstar cricketer.

After India's match against Nepal, Kohli was kind enough to sign his autograph for Kami.

During the match between Nepal and India for the Asia Cup 2023 on Monday at the Pallekele International Stadium, Nepal’s bowling all-rounder, Sompal Kami, and Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli shared a unique moment together. It was a beautiful display of camaraderie and sportsmanship on both sides.

At the number eight spot in the batting order, Kami displayed his batting prowess by contributing a critical 48 runs off of 56 balls, which included a boundary and two sixes. His performance with the bat helped Nepal accumulate 230 runs in 48.2 overs, which is a good total.

He was unable to match the same performance with the ball, which resulted in India achieving a stunning victory by ten wickets and chasing down the revised target of 145 runs in just 23 overs.

But it wasn’t simply Kami’s skills on the cricket pitch that stole the show; it was his off-field moment that won over the hearts of cricket fans all across the world. The 27-year-old Indian cricket player went to his Twitter account and posted a picture with Virat Kohli, who had previously served as the team’s captain, as well as a shoe that Kohli had personally autographed. Kami captioned the photo with respect by writing, “Virat Kohli is not just a cricketer; he’s an emotion.”

In contrast, India’s performance with the bat was outstanding, courtesy of the unbeaten 74 scored by Rohit Sharma and the 67 notched up by the youthful Shubman Gill. The pair struck fear into the hearts of the Nepalese bowlers, which made the pursuit of the target much simpler. However, India’s fielding left a lot to be desired, as they missed multiple opportunities to catch their opponents, including three in the first five overs. Because of those wasted opportunities, Nepal was able to set a respectable target of 230 runs.

As the tournament continues, India will need to find a solution to their fielding problems in order to maintain their ability to compete in the forthcoming Super 4 stage. During this stage, they will be up against difficult opponents such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

In the meantime, although displaying excellent composure, Nepal was eliminated from the competition after suffering back-to-back defeats at the hands of India and Pakistan. India was their first opponent, and Pakistan was their second.
