Babar Azam scored 151 runs against Nepal in the opening match of the current Asia Cup 2023, igniting the competition. He appeared to be in excellent touch forward; thus, the Indian bowlers may encounter some challenges when these two teams face off on September 2 in Pallekele. Mohammad Kaif, a former India international, is unconcerned about Pakistan’s cricketing performance and continues to have confidence in Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah.
He said that the Indian pacers, who are currently in excellent form, will be difficult for the Pakistani captain to handle. Notably, Shami was outstanding in the series against the West Indies, while Bumrah displayed his talent upon his comeback, taking four wickets in two games against Ireland to end as the series’ top wicket-taker and have the potential to be very dangerous in the Asia Cup. Because of this, Babar won’t be able to score as easily as he did against Nepal, according to Kaif.

Mohammed Shami is an excellent bowler with excellent form. He handled the bowling quite well, even without Bumrah. Even his IPL form was excellent. He is, therefore, quite talented. According to me, Babar Azam is going to find it really difficult to take on Mohammed Shami,” Kaif stated on Star Sports.

The quick Mohammed Shami is optimistic about India’s chances in the current Asia Cup. He said he doesn’t have an ego and is ready to bowl at any point during the game. The 32-year-old continued by saying that because Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj had put in a lot of effort with him, he had reason to be upbeat about India’s future prospects.
“I don’t hesitate to bowl with either the old ball or the new ball. That kind of ego is not mine. The management will decide who will play because all three of us (Bumrah, Shami, and Siraj) bowl really well. There is only one thing we need to do to achieve our goal: go and give it all we’ve got. It’s a really straightforward plan; therefore, it’s crucial to concentrate and carry it out, added Shami.
