India travels to Colombo for the 2023 Asia Cup

On Wednesday, August 30, India arrived in Colombo in preparation for their eagerly anticipated season opener against bitter foe Pakistan on September 2. Fans are already anticipating a thrilling match from the edge of their seats.

All-arounder Hardik Pandya and ace batter Virat Kohli were seen honestly chatting when the Indian team arrived at the Colombo airport. In the meantime, head coach Rahul Dravid, bowler Mohammad Shami, all-arounder Ravindra Jadeja, and Indian captain Rohit Sharma were spotted having fun together.

KL Rahul, the Indian team’s standout batter, won’t be available for the first two games of their Asia Cup campaign. Up until September 4, Rahul, who has been recovering from an injury, will remain under the National Cricket Academy’s supervision.

While he (KL Rahul) had a fantastic week with us and is making good work on the path we want to travel, he won’t be accessible for the first portion of the Kandy section of the journey. While we are on the road, the NCA will take care of him. On September 4, we will reevaluate him, and we will proceed from there. He is making good progress, and the signals are good, said Dravid at a press conference.

Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka are in Group B, while Pakistan, India, and Nepal are in Group A.

Pakistan will host four matches over two locations as part of the Asia Cup’s innovative hybrid format, with Sri Lanka hosting the remaining matches.

The Super Fours stage is scheduled to begin on September 6 following the group-stage games, and the final, in which the top two teams from the Super Four stage will compete for the trophy, is scheduled for September 17 in Colombo.
