On September 3, BCCI is anticipated to release India's preliminary World Cup roster.

In less than a month, the eagerly anticipated ODI World Cup will begin in India, a nation obsessed with cricket. The teaser for the main event is the Asia Cup, which gets underway on Wednesday, August 30. at the six-team tournament, rivals India and Pakistan are grouped together and will face off on September 2 at Pallekele, Sri Lanka.By September 28, which is seven days before the commencement of the main event, India can afford to make changes to their lineup.

India’s tentative ODI World Cup roster will be unveiled on September 3 following this game, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selectors’ final opportunity to watch an Indian cricket match.

It is vital to remember that India will play a three-match ODI series against Australia following the Asia Cup, with the last game set for September 27. The selectors must therefore wait until after that series before announcing their final 15-player roster. Given that players like KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are making comebacks to the team during the Asia Cup after recovering from injuries, there is also a good chance that the selectors would keep some players on standby for the major competition.

India’s traveling reserve for the 2023 Asia Cup is Sanju Samson.

KL Rahul has a recent ache, and the Indian team’s medical staff is keeping an eye on his physical condition. Sanju Samson will travel to Sri Lanka with the Indian team as a backup so that he can easily fill in if Rahul’s recovery is delayed.

In ODI cricket, Rahul has been outstanding for India at No. 5. The talented right-handed batter has racked up 742 runs in 18 innings at an average of 53 and a strike rate of 99.33. A certain Yuvraj Singh was a noteworthy performer in the No. 5 spot the previous time India won a 50-over World Cup and went on to win the Player of the Series title. Rahul, 31, will need to improve his fitness before Rohit Sharma and company can think that he would be as productive as Yuvraj in the middle order.
