Sad news: Sunil Dev, the team manager of India’s T20I World Cup-winning team, passed dead.

When his passing was revealed following a protracted illness, he was 75 years old and the former secretary of the defunct Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA).Sunil Dev, who was 75 years old, left behind his wife and kids. He spent several years working for the DDCA and, while employed as the governing body’s sports administrator, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), he served on the board’s subcommittees.

One of his greatest professional accomplishments, though, occurred in South Africa during the inaugural T20I World Cup. In addition to serving in the same capacity on India’s tours of South Africa in 1996 and England in 2014, Sunil Dev was named the administrative manager of the Indian squad in 2007.

Sunil Dev achieved enormous power during his time with the DDCA, to the point that a Ranji Trophy squad might be released without his consent. Many Sunil Dev followers came forward to express their condolences after he passed away because he had become a significant character for the BCCI.

In the 2007 T20I World Cup championship game, India defeated Pakistan. While this was going on, the MS Dhoni-led Indian squad competed in the 2007 T20I World Cup finals and took against Pakistan. This was the famous summit match. Team India scored 157 runs in its opening at-bat. The first innings’ standout performer was opener Gautam Gambhir, who hit 75 runs off of 54 deliveries to assist his team beat the summit rivals with a solid total.

India displayed outstanding ball control during the chase of the runs. With three wickets each from RP Singh and Irfan Pathan, and a masterful last over from Joginder Sharma, India won the World Cup.
