On Tuesday in Trinidad, the third and final ODI between India and the West Indies will decide the series. While the visitors won the first game, the hosts evened things up in the second game with a six-wicket victory. In the last game, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were rested, and JioCinema expert Aakash Chopra believes they should keep experimenting if the management thinks it’s the best course of action.
Why stop looking at the series if you were looking for experiments? If you’re entering the situation with the mentality of “I’m going to try a lot of cricketers, I’m going to give the players who haven’t gotten enough game time a chance,” So why alter? You accomplished this in both the first and second games. Just give the athletes more chances if they haven’t received enough in the past.
Aakash Chopra then presented a counterargument, arguing that the team needs to start veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli if it hopes to win the third ODI and the series with the best possible opportunity. “That also means that no opportunities will be given to someone like Sanju Samson or Suryakumar Yadav anymore; one of the two would have to sit out. Axar Patel won’t have another chance.
Chopra does not want India to use seven bowlers, as they did in the second ODI, in terms of bowling. “India offers many bowling possibilities. They have four quick bowlers on their team. In the previous game, they even used three. On a pitch that is conducive to bowling, you don’t need seven choices to play in an ODI.
“On a wicket where scoring runs is challenging and bowlers are performing well, there isn’t much that needs to change, but you must make sure you give them enough opportunities. In the first and second games, Umran Malik only bowled three overs, and Axar Patel only bowled two overs in the prior game. Cut back on resources and perhaps play an extra batter in cases where you are unable to provide the bowlers you have chosen with enough overs.
