Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka in the second Test match at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on the fourth day with a stunning display of dominance. By an innings and 222 runs, the visitors decisively won, sweeping the two-match series. An astounding seven wickets were taken by Noman Ali mesmerizing spin and cunning. Every pitch, whether it had a flight, a change in velocity, a spin, or a bounce, was intended to tease and confound the batters. He grabbed seven wickets in the second inning, and thanks to his outstanding effort, Pakistan was able to achieve this historic triumph.
Earlier, Sri Lanka’s performance in the game took a hit when Nishan Madhushka was run out in the fourth over of the first day, laying the stage for their problems as they were dismissed for a pitiful 166 in the first innings. In contrast, Pakistan had a great time thanks to Agha Salman scoring a brilliant century and Abdullah Shafique blasting a first-class double hundred as the Sri Lankan bowlers struggled to get going.
Noman Ali was the day’s hero after his fantastic bowling effort completely disorganized the Sri Lankan batters.
Sri Lanka’s performance in the second innings wasn’t any better
As they once more fell apart for 188 runs. The hosts’ batting order was completely dismantled by Noman Ali, who turned out to be their worst enemy, putting them in total chaos. However, it was not to be as Naseem Shah chipped in to finish off the tail with the final three wickets to his credit. At one point, there were even rumblings of a potential ten-wicket haul for Noman.
The administration of the team as well as the captain of Sri Lanka, Dimuth Karunaratne, will definitely be left with a lot to think about. The home squad’s performance was much below expectations, as the slick Pakistani team absolutely outplayed and outmatched them. The visitors, on the other hand, will be ecstatic at their outstanding start to the World Test Championship 2025 campaign, scoring a maximum of 24 points.
