Bangladesh women bounced back with an outstanding performance in the ODI series after losing the recently finished T20I series against India. The Nigar Sultana-led team got the series off to a great start by using the DLS system to win the first ODI by 40 runs.
A significant accomplishment for the team was the fact that it was Bangladesh’s first victory over India in an ODI. When both teams square up in the second ODI on July 19 after the first ODI, the hosts have a chance to pull off the seemingly impossible and potentially win the ODI series.
Nigar Sultana, the captain, stole the spotlight after her team’s outstanding triumph in the first ODI and praised them profusely. She advised the players to continue preparing for success after the win and even attempt to win the series.
“We are thrilled to have won an ODI after a long period. It is a great accomplishment for the team. In the future, it will enable us to play much better. India has finally been vanquished by us. It also occurred in Mirpur. Without a doubt, it is a part of history. Nigar Sultana was quoted by the ICC as saying, “We want to make a bit more history.
Our work isn’t finished yet: Nigar Sultana
In addition, the captain believed that despite winning the first ODI, work remained to be done, and she made that clear to her teammates as well. She added that success will now raise standards, and she wants her players to exhibit greater accountability.
“The girls were really excited, but I reminded them that our work isn’t over yet because success increases our obligations. We now face higher expectations. We are aware that if we keep improving as cricket players, we will make progress toward greater success. Consequently, following a large celebration, I was able to keep them calm, Sultana remarked.
